On blank pages

I’m staring at a blank page now.

We talk about ‘blank page syndrome’, but there are different types.

Some are terrifying - like when you’re forced to start something new by miscalculation or misfortune.

Some are invigorating though. You’ve finished your sketches and your rough drafts and now you’re ready to do things properly.

Sometimes it’s hard to tell the difference between these two and I suspect that the first type is secretly the second type if you pay close enough attention.
